KmB Technologie GmbH, which makes precision parts for steering, gearbox and chassis systems at Zerbst in Saxony-Anhalt, has filed for insolvency. The Dessau-Roßlau local court has the case under 2 IN 173/26, with a court entry dated 5 October 2026, and Lucas Flöther has been appointed provisional administrator. Production is expected to continue for now, and customers have indicated support through prepayments.
The administrator’s firm says the trigger was a major customer announcing it would not renew an important order. The town of Zerbst has pointed to the company’s heavy dependence on Volkswagen, and IG Metall says 185 jobs are affected.
Mutares bought KmB in July 2024 from EMAG Industrial and Scherer Holding and put it in its FerrAl United group. At the time Mutares put 2023 revenue at about €50m with about 250 staff. For the part of 2024 after the deal, Mutares reported €6.6m of revenue and a €3.3m loss after tax for KmB.
